Valentine's Floral in Lavender
This year I created Valentine's Day vases with purchased lavender roses and alstroemeria lilies and greenery from my garden..
My daughters helped me deliver them to some friends who might not otherwise receive Valentine's gifts. My younger daughter said she really enjoyed seeing the smiles on their faces as we handed them the flowers.
I had a few glass vases on hand but had to be creative to find enough containers. This one is a food jar with the ribbon covering the threads at top.
This vase belonged to my grandmother before she passed, so I gave it to a friend who always returns the vases.
Each arrangement featured a heart in back made from twigs from my dwarf Arctic willow shrub. Large evergreen leaves from my 'Otto Luyken' laurel and delicate stems from Teucrium chamaedrys are visible in this shot.
I also included these unusual dark plum stems from my 'Early Amethyst' candytuft (Iberis), which hasn't been a great performer in the garden but whose stems have proven useful in vases.
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
